God’s House of Deliverance

Church History

Bishop Oscar Johnson, Jr. is the founder and Pastor of God’s House of Deliverance Church of the Apostolic Faith, Incorporated. He is married to Evangelist Nancy Johnson, and to this union blessed with nine children, twenty-seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Bishop Johnson was a member of the Powerhouse of Deliverance Church from 1976 to 1997, under the leadership of the late Bishop Johnny H. Covington. Bishop Johnson later felt the call of God leading him to the doors of Christ Temple Church, under the leadership of the late Bishop John W. Henderson.

After about a year and a half, the spirit of the Lord began to speak to Bishop Johnson, telling him to start a church, of which he would be the pastor, naming the church God’s House of Deliverance, because deliverance will be in the house.

The first service held for God’s House of Deliverance Church was on November 15, 1998 on Concord Street. The next location was on Summit Avenue beginning October 17, 1999 until the current church was purchased at 1212 Randolph Avenue, when God gave Bishop Johnson the vision for the church.
